Meetings

Friends of Seward Park meet at 7:00pm on the fourth Thursday of most months to discuss current issues and to plan work parties and other events. The meetings are held at the Lakewood/Seward Park Community Clubhouse, located at the corner of 50th Avenue South and South Angeline Street. All are welcome.

Seasonal Activities

Ivy Out of Seward Park work parties. Every Third Saturday.

First Saturday Natural and Human History Walks
Each month we'll choose a different emphasis and a different route, touching on geology, history, plants, birds, and other wildlife, conservation and restoration. The walks are designed to be flexible to accommodate individual interests or abilities.

Accomplishments

  • Installed stone mile markers in response to organizations spray painting lines on the lower loop asphalt.
  • Wrote grants for, and planted over 150 trees and shrubs at Seward Park and along Lake Washington Boulevard.
  • Received a $10,000 grant to remove English Ivy, an invasive plant that threatens the Old-Growth forest.
  • Supplied Teens for Recreation and Environmental Conservation (“TREC”) with $1,000 to train teens to conduct nature programs in the park.
  • Created and maintain the Seward Park website: www.sewardpark.net
  • Sponsored Holiday Hayrides to help foster a sense of community.
  • Provide a voice for park-related concerns and a forum for discussion at monthly meetings.
  • Organize fundraisers with all proceeds benefiting the park.
  • Publish the natural and human history of Seward Park.
  • Coordinate a community calendar for park activities.
  • Create appropriate signage for the park.
  • Assist in trail maintenance and development.
  • Advocate for responsible park stewardship in our work with the Seattle Parks Department.
  • Preserve, protect, and provide for this unique park, ensuring the enjoyment of future generations.
